This month, the Vancouver City Council declared that May will be celebrated as “Small Business Month” in the city. As reported by the Vancouver Business Journal, the month will consist of community events highlighting the importance of small businesses to the Vancouver community, along with many opportunities for networking and training. These events will focus both on traditional aspects of small business like growing relationships as well as providing seminars to help small businesses continue to develop in the digital age, such as a workshop on “Tips for Writing Social Media Content for Your Business.”

According to Vancouver’s Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, small businesses make up over 95% of the city’s businesses. It’s no surprise then that so many local organizations are coming together to support Small Business Month. Notable contributing organizations include Clark College, Fourth Plain Forward, the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.
